Those who love their maroon and gold rallied at the State Capitol Thursday, urging lawmakers to 'Support the U.'
University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler said, "We need to do everything we can to make the university affordable and accessible to qualified students in the state of Minnesota. There is nothing more important for us to do than to have this university be accessible to those who will benefit from it."
Students from all five system campuses were at the event.
President Kaler is asking for more than $1 billion in funding over the next two years.
It would allow for a two year tuition freeze.
