A Lino Lakes man was charged with fourth degree assault after police say he was intoxicated and spitting on officers.
A Centennial Lakes officer was called to North Road and North Star Lane in Circle Pines around 11 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, on a report of an intoxicated man.
The officer says he found 18-year-old Jacob Anthony Siegler of Lino Lakes lying on his back on the sidewalk crying. The officer said there was a strong smell of alcohol and that Siegler wasn’t able to get up off the ground.
The officer helped Siegler up and asked him to sit in the back of the squad car when Siegler allegedly became uncooperative, according to the criminal complaint. Other officers arrived on the scene and say Siegler said comments like, “I hate you” and “I want you to kill me.”
Because of the comments, paramedics arrived for an emergency psych hold, but Siegler refused to leave the squad car and allegedly started spitting on the officers and paramedics.
During the ride to the hospital, Siegler said he didn’t like police and that’s why he wanted to spit on them, according to the criminal complaint.
Siegler has been charged with fourth degree assault. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison and up to $6,000 in fines.
