The founder of a well-known downtown Minneapolis charity is getting a high honor from the president this Friday.
Mary Jo Copeland will receive the 2012 Citizens' Medal during a ceremony at the White House.
Copeland has run Sharing and Caring Hands since 1985, giving food, clothing, and shelter to people in need.
About 6,000 people submitted nominations, but only 18 people are receiving the award.
