Deep below the ground in Hennepin County, there's a collection of hundreds of firearms called the 'firearm reference library.'
Not only is it used to identify guns, but investigators also take parts to reconstruct firearms damaged in a crime. They have more than 1,500 guns in their collection, and so far this year, they've already used the lab to help in 150 cases.
"It has grown exponentially over the past five years, it's tripled in size and that's because of the great work we do both in recovering and taking illegal guns of the streets," said Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek.
If you have a gun you'd like to get rid of, contact the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and see if it's something they could add to the library.
