No one was hurt after a boiler explosion Tuesday at a Brooklyn Center Church.
The gas was turn off immediately after the explosion happened at the Brookdale Christian Center, 6030 Xerxes Ave. N.
Rebecca Virden with CenterPoint says workers at a day care in the building noticed a smell and decided to evacuate the children immediately. She credits their swift action as the reason why there were no injuries or deaths.
Brooklyn Center Fire Chief Lee Gatlin says the blast partially collapsed the second floor of the wing and caused about $200,000 in damage.
