As a kid I watched a lot of cartoons and one of my favorite cartoons to watch was “Tom and Jerry” because usually in the middle of the show, you would get a Tex Avery cartoon and I couldn’t get enough of them.

Tex Avery’s cartoons were hilarious and were so different than any other cartoon I had seen.  They were silly and there were so many different ones. “Droopy” was a very popular character and he had many episodes that featured him. I thought that “Droopy” cartoons were okay, but the other cartoons that Tex did were brilliant in my opinion.

In 1997 DiC Entertainment produced a show called “The Wacky World of Tex Avery” and it only aired for two seasons.

Mill Creek Entertainment just released “The Wacky World of Tex Avery: Volume One on DVD and I just finished watching my review copy.

This is the first season and contains 40 episodes and is close to 15 hours long and is on four DVD’s.  There is also a bonus episode of “Bump in the Night which is a strange Claymation program.

Each episode features three different cartoons that are hilarious and will have you laughing out loud in no time. There are many different characters that are great and silly. The main character is Tex Avery and he is usually shown riding on a goat.

I really enjoyed this set, because it did remind me of the old Tex Avery cartoons and how silly and goofy they were. I also really liked how you never knew what to expect. In one episode there are cowboys chasing another cowboy on horses. The horse is shot and drug through a cactus and he has finally had enough so he throws the cowboy off his back and looks into the camera and says that they are going to do the cartoon differently. The cartoon goes black and there is a countdown and then the cartoon restarts again. This time the people are the horses and the horses are the people if that makes sense. The episodes are filled with crazy things like that I loved it.

The animation is great and very well drawn. The writing for each cartoon is clever and witty.

I really thought that Mill Creek Entertainment’s “The Wacky World of Tex Avery: Volume One is amazing. It is silly and very well written. I just could not stop laughing, because of the humor. I know that this is a must have for people who are looking for something hilarious to watch or is a fan of Tex Avery like I am.
