In one of the most lopsided results in recent State Tournament play, St Thomas Academy never let up in beating St Cloud Apollo 12-0 in their Class A State Quarterfinal.

The Cadets (25-2-2) had built a 9-0 lead late in the second period before Apollo (17-11) had managed a single shot on goal.

Nine different scorers tallied goals for the Cadets, and sixteen different skaters recorded points. St. Thomas outshot Apollo 50-3 for the game and won 41 of the 55 faceoffs in the game.

Jack Dougherty and Peter Tufto both scored four points for the Cadets. Alex Johnson, Matt Perry and Alec Broetzman each scored twice.

Apollo goalie Nick Altaus made 38 saves.

St Thomas Academy plays the winner of the East Grand Forks / Rochester Lourdes quarterfinal in the second of the Class A Semifinals on Friday afternoon.

The Cadets, who are seeking a third straight State Class A title, are moving up to Class AA next season.
