16-year-old Dies in Semi Crash Near Montevideo, Minn.

A 16-year-old girl died Friday morning in a head-on crash with a semi truck near Montevideo, Minn., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded to the crash at about 11:36 a.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 212 at milepost 42 in Yellow Medicine County.

Meagan E. Siemieniewski, 16, of Sacred Heart, Minn. was driving a 1999 Ford pickup south on U.S. Highway 212 when her vehicle collided with the semi, which was northbound.

Siemieniewski died from her injuries.

Mitchell D. Hanson, 57, of Elk River, Minn. was driving the Volvo semi with an oversized load. He had minor injuries.

Authorities from Chippewa and Yellow Medicine counties responded to the crash, as well as paramedics from Montevideo and Granite Falls.
