March is not typically the time of year that we think about donating to the food shelf.
But March is designated Minnesota food share month.
It's an important time of year as holiday donations start drying up, said Marcia Fink, director of basic needs for the United Way.
March is ahead of summer - a time when kids are home all day and many don't have the opportunity to get meals.
To meet demand, United Way is trying to restock 300 different food shelves this month across the state, as well as raise a million dollars worth of money and food to stock those shelves.
