You may have read my review of Capcom’s” Devil May Cry” for the PS3 and I really enjoyed the game a lot.  I thought it was a lot of fun to play and it kept me entertained for hours.

I just received a review code for the first downloadable content (DLC) that is available for “Devil May Cry” called “Vergil’s Downfall.”

You get the chance to play as Dante’s twin brother Vergil. Vergil’s powers are different than Dante’s and he also has new upgrades that are different. Vergil can teleport, move objects, throw swords that can attack by themselves, and he can also use the angel and devil powers.

“Vergil’s Downfall” takes place right after the end of “Devil May Cry” and you are betrayed by Dante and badly beaten. You must now travel through six new levels to confront Dante.

I really thought that “Vergil’s Downfall” was a lot of fun.  The story was great and I really liked that you got the chance to see more of Vergil. I thought that he was a very interesting character in “Devil May Cry” and I wanted to learn more about him.

The graphics are great and are the same as “Devil May Cry.” The characters and backgrounds look amazing and are very detailed. The animation between levels is very unique and it I really liked it a lot. The video sequences are a combination of animated sketches and full character animations. I don’t know if that makes sense or not, but once you see it you will know what I mean. It flowed very nicely together.

The controls are very easy to learn. If you played “Devil May Cry” then you should have no problems picking up the game and playing it because the controls are exactly the same.

There is an option for you to use a tutorial during your gameplay when you start the game which is nice. If you don’t need it, you can shut it off and the button commands will not show up.  However, if you need a refresher the option is there. I used it because Vergil does have new powers and I wanted to make sure I knew how to use each one.

There are hidden items that you can find again like the lost souls and health upgrades that were also in “Devil May Cry.” They are challenging to find because they are very well hidden.

I really liked Capcom’s “Vergil’s Downfall” a lot and thought it was a lot of fun. I felt that the new DLC really added something new to “Devil May Cry.” It was a great add on and I think a lot of people will really enjoy it as much as I did.
