There's a critical shortage of a commonly used drug and it's causing prices to skyrocket.
The antibiotic Doxycycline is used to treat a number of issues, like acne and bacterial infections such as pneumonia. It's also the antibiotic commonly used for the treatment of Lyme disease in humans and pets.
For the last few months there's been a shortage caused by high demand and manufacturing delays.
A 500 pill bottle of Doxycycline, which used to run $30, now costs one Minneapolis pharmacy $2,012.
The FDA says a new supply of the drug should be in pharmacies by the end of the month.
