Carly Wagner scored a state tournament record 50 points, the last one coming on a free throw with 6.1 seconds remaining, to lift New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva to a 60-59 win over Braham in the Class 2A girls' basketball final.
Wagner then stole the ball on the ensuing possession to wrap up the Panthers' 30th straight win and their first state championship. The loss was the first of the year for Braham (33-1)
The Panthers (32-1) appeared ready for a blowout win, but Braham's Rebeka Dahlman scored 30 of her 32 points in the second half to lead a furious comeback that tied the score at 59-59 with 37.4 seconds left.
Wagner was fouled and made the first free throw but missed the second.
Kayla Nickels scored 12 points for Braham.
