The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has closed three stretches of highway in west central Minnesota due to heavy snow, high winds and low visibility. Those highways include:
Interstate 94 from Moorhead to AlexandriaThe highways closed at 11 p.m. Sunday and will remain closed until further notice. In addition, MnDOT recommends no travel on all highways in west central Minnesota.
Motorists caught driving on closed highways can be fined up to $1,000 and/or sentenced up to 90 days in jail. Travelers can also be fined or penalized if they need to be rescued from a closed road.
