CVS pharmacy is requiring its workers to report their weight and body fat if they want to continue getting the company’s health insurance – or they’ll face a $600 penalty.
The found of Patient Privacy Rights calls the new policy invasive.
"The approach they're taking is based on the assumption that somehow these people need a whip, they need to be penalized in order to make themselves healthy,” Dr. Deborah Peele of Patients Privacy Rights says.
CVS says its wellness program is designed to motivate employees to take more responsibility for their health. Company officials also say it is voluntary and they never see the test results.
