Would you know what to do when faced with a workplace shooting or other emergency situation in a building?

The Columbia Heights Police Department hosted a Neighborhood Watch Training session Wednesday evening that discussed “Active Shooters.” They showed a six-minute video on how to respond to a shooting, and then held a discussion with law enforcement officers.

“We’re always trying to find training that people would be interested in,” Officer Terry Nightingale said. “This is a topic of interest, even though the chances of anyone finding themselves in an active shooting situation are pretty remote.”

According to Nightingale, the department hosts four training sessions a year for Neighborhood Watch members – two in the spring and two in the fall.
