A new collaboration in Minnesota is aimed at helping keep kids healthy.

Mayo Clinic announced Wednesday that Shriners Hospitals for Children - Twin Cities will become part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

The two organizations have been working together for more than 20 years, but this new formal collaboration will mean better access to patient databases and cutting edge medical techniques.

It also means physicians at Shriners will be able to connect directly with Mayo Clinic specialists.

The Mayo Clinic Care Network launched in 2011 and now has member organizations in 11 states.
