Curling Olympians and national champions will be coming to Blaine next week to celebrate the opening of a world-class curling facility.

The 28,100-square-foot facility was completed in January 2013 and has six lanes for curling. According to Fogerty Arena officials, the curling facility is North America’s only year-round, dedicated curling facility.

Curling Olympian John Benton and local dignitaries will be speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Benton is also the director of curling operations for Fogerty. Twelve commemorative curling teams made up of community members will then play to mark the grand opening of the facility.

The event also celebrates the new Gabe’s Rinkside Bar and Grill adjacent to the curling rink.

The ribbon cutting takes place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Fogerty Arena in Blaine. A spring league is now open for registrations at FourSeasonsCurlingClub.com.
