Next Generation of Lifesaving Devices Could Come from Conference at U of M

The University of Minnesota is hosting the 12th Design of Medical Devices Conference. The conference was created in 2001 to gather the best and brightest minds to share information and develop new ideas.

With more than 1200 physicians, designers and engineers expected to attend, the conference is the largest of its kind.

This years meeting will cover a wide variety of topics including live surgery, cardiovascular engineering, neuro-engineering, micro and nano-devices, medical electronics, surgical robotics and tissue engineering.

Minnesota is a recognized leader in the creation and development of medical devices.

The gathering is presented by the University of Minnesota's Medical Devices Center, which is part of the Institute for Engineering in Medicine, and the College of Science and Engineering.
