Today I have to tell you about a Blu-ray double feature that is a must have for any horror fan. I just finished watching Mill Creek Entertainment’s “When A Stranger Calls/Happy Birthday To Me” Blu-ray Double feature and it is amazing.

It has been years since I have seen these two horror films and they look amazing on Blu-ray. They both have that eerie early horror movie feel to them.

“When A Stranger Calls” was released in 1979 and stars Charles Durning, Carol Kane, Colleen Dewhurst and Tony Beckley.

Carol Kane plays a babysitter who is babysitting two children. After being in the house for a few minutes she starts getting strange phone calls. She gets scared and calls the police.

The police trace the phone calls and they are coming from inside the house. The killer is caught and is put in a mental institute. After seven years he breaks out and is on the prowl again.

I really liked this movie for so many reasons. It’s the classic urban legend about the babysitter getting the creepy phone calls and you find out the killer is inside the house. This all happens in the first fifteen minutes of the movie. The movie is creepy and the killer is insane, you don’t know what he is going to do next. I also really thought the ending of the film was clever and very well done. I left feeling very satisfied.

“Happy Birthday To Me” was released in 1981 and stars Melissa Sue Anderson (Little House On the Prairie), Glenn Ford, and Lawrence Dane.

Melissa Sue Anderson plays a character named Virginia Wainwright. Virginia suffers from occasional black outs and memory loss. She also tries to fit in with the most popular kids in school. Only a few days before Virginia’s 18th birthday her friends start getting murdered one by one by a mysterious killer. Is Virginia the mysterious killer and cannot remember what she has done? You’ll have to watch to find out.

I really liked “Happy Birthday To Me” a lot. It was a great slasher film and the special effects were pretty good. I also liked the fact that you had to try and figure out who the killer was and why they were doing it. This movie really keeps you guessing the whole time you are watching it.

I used to watch “Little House on the Prairie” all the time growing up and it was fun to see Melissa Sue Anderson who played Mary in a horror film. I think this was the only horror film she has done, so it is a pretty unique role for her.

Mill Creek Entertainment’s “When A Stranger Calls/Happy Birthday To Me” Blu-ray Double feature is a must have for horror fans.

I think that it is a great idea to have both of these slasher films together on one DVD. Both films are very creepy and will make you turn the lights on as you watch them. I would highly recommend this double feature to anyone that is looking for a good scare.
