Dayton to Declare Gopher Women's Hockey Day in Minn.

Gov. Mark Dayton plans to issue a proclamation Monday declaring the day to be "Gopher Women's Hockey National Championship Day" throughout Minnesota.

Members of the team and Dayton will be joined by the University of Minnesota's athletic director Norwood Teague, Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie Gildea and the team's mascot Goldy Gopher, according to the governor's office.

The event will celebrate the team's NCAA Division I National Championship, and the team's undefeated record. The celebration is planned to begin at 12:15 p.m. Monday at Ridder Arena at the U, 1901 Fourth St. S.E. Students are welcomed to attend.
