I really enjoy watching old television shows and I really find it exciting when I come across a series that I have never seen before.
This past week I received a review copy of Shout Factory’s “Route 66: The Complete Fourth Season.” I had never seen “Route 66” before because it was before my time. I heard of it, but never got the opportunity to see the show until now.
“Route 66” aired from 1960 t0 1964 and only aired four seasons. It was about two men named Tod Stiles and Linc Case and their road trip across America on Route 66 in their trade mark Corvette. Every episode featured a different story and location and it also featured a special guest star who was a very well know celebrity at that time. Some of the celebrities were Buster Keaton, Boris Karloff, Burt Reynolds, Cloris Leachman, Ed Asner, James Cann, Leslie Nielsen, Martin Sheen, Peter Lore, and many more.
I think what really made “Route 66” very entertaining was that you never knew what city or what the theme of the show was going to be. Every episode was different and I think that was appealing to a lot of the people who watched it.
“Route 66” was very popular back in the 60s, and I think that it’s great that Shout Factory is making the series available so viewers can enjoy it again or for the first time.
“Route 66: The Complete Fourth Season” features 22 episodes and they are on five DVDs.
I watched the entire fourth season in just a few days and I really enjoyed it a lot. Like I said earlier I had never seen the show before, but once I started watching it, I couldn’t stop.
I thought that each episode was very well written and they were interesting enough to keep your attention the whole time. The episodes were exciting and were full of thrilling chases and action sequences that had me glued to the television waiting to see what was going to happen next. Every episode also left you with a great feeling at the end of it. There was usually some tragedy that took place, but in the end everything usually seemed to work out or end in a way that made sense.
Every episode of “Route 66” is like a completely different television show with the same two characters. I think that everyone that has seen it or will see it will fell the same way. Every episode has a new cast of characters and the stories are so different.
Shout Factory does an outstanding job with the quality of their DVD’s in my opinion. For a show that is just over 40 years old, you wouldn’t know it. Sure the episodes are in black and white, but the video quality is sharp and crystal clear.
I really enjoyed Shout Factory’s “Route 66: The Complete Fourth Season.” After watching it, I want to go out and get the other three seasons. I think the show is great and was very well written. I just really liked the fact that every show was different and you never knew what the story was going to be. I think a lot of fans of “Route 66” will enjoy this and even people who had never seen the show before like me will enjoy it.
