Community members who know someone who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts are invited to attend a free workshop this week.

The Suicide Prevention Workshop is sponsored by the Anoka-Ramsey Community Counseling Department. According to the college, at least six Americans lose a loved one to suicide every 17 minutes, and 90 percent of suicidal people show warning signs.

Mental health experts will be in attendance to answer questions and talk about how to question, persuade and refer someone who is depressed, discouraged, or needing help.

The workshop takes place from 11 a.m. to noon and 1-2 p.m. Monday, April 29, at the Coon Rapids Campus Legacy Room. It’s free and open to the public.
