Administrators at Marshall Public Schools have scheduled a meeting to review field trip protocol after a 4-year-old child was left at a museum.
Jacqueline Whylly learned her son AJ had been left at the Children's Museum of South Dakota in Brookings, S.D. Tuesday.
Superintendent Klint Willert tells KSTP the district realized the boy was missing before returning to Marshall, which is about 45 minutes away from the museum.
The district dispatched a separate vehicle to Brookings to get the child, but when they arrived at 4 p.m. a museum employee said the parents had asked that no one else pick up their child.
The staff member stayed with the child until his parents arrived at 4:30 p.m.
A meeting with district administrators has been scheduled Thursday to review field trip procedures.
The school has apologized.
