GOP Candidate for Governor Emerges

The 2014 elections are still more than 18 months away, but the first GOP candidate for governor is now officially in the ring.

Business executive Scott Honour of Orono announced his candidacy via an Internet video yesterday. Today, he conducted several interviews with members of the Minnesota media.

Honour's announcement comes just as we have new approval ratings for Governor Dayton in our KSTP/SurveyUSA poll. Dayton's approval rating stands at 49 percent, with 39 percent disapproving and 13 percent not sure.

Incumbents are generally considered vulnerable with approval ratings under 50 percent. Dayton was at 50 percent in our last poll in February.
