Grab your sombrero this weekend and head to a Cinco de Mayo party.

Several restaurants in the Twin Cities are hosting buffets and special events for the holiday. Cities also are planning parades, runs and walks, and more. Below is a list of events. If you know of a Cinco de Mayo party, email KSTP at

For a fourth year, the Arbors at Ridges Assisted Living Campus in Burnsville will host a Cinco de Mayo-themed lunch for the public to benefit the Burnsville Fire Department.

Lunch will include tacos, chips, salsa, churros and non-alcoholic margaritas. The event will include members of the fire department, a mariachi band and a raffle.

All proceeds from the event will go toward purchasing fire prevention home safety products, which will be available for Burnsville residents.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Arbors at Ridges, 13810 Community Drive.

The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for children.

Last year's event raised $1,710 for the department, which allowed them to purchase mobile video recording systems for firefighters and paramedics. The devices are used to record emergency scenes and assist the department with documentation, investigations and training.

More information about the fundraiser is available by calling Arbors at Ridges at 952-898-4005.

The group Running Ventures is organizing a Cinco de Mayo 8K at Lake Nokomis at 9 a.m. Saturday. A Kids Half Mile Run and Piñata Blast Race starts at 10 a.m.

Runners can register at 8 a.m. Saturday. Registration closed Thursday. More information about the race and registration can be found here.
