Classes resumed Monday morning after a school in Mendota Heights was evacuated because students weren't feeling well.

Police and Xcel Energy officials investigated Friendly Hills Middle School, 701 Mendota Heights Road, and found that an exhaust fan wasn't operational, said Carrie Hilger, school district spokeswoman.

Students returned to class at about 11:30 a.m. The school was evacuated for about an hour. About 15 students were evaluated on site after exhibiting mild symptoms.

Students who were on the school's upper level began feeling ill, Hilger said. School officials evacuated the school as precautionary measure.

The students moved outside and were being attended to by staff.
