It's Big Money Monday.

And with the Department of Commerce, KSTP is helping Minnesotans like you reunite with long lost cash.

There's $550 million waiting to be claimed.

At Kowalski's in Eden Prairie, KSTP gave people the chance to look up their name and see if they had money floating around somewhere.

Ken Wigley got an unexpected payday.  He's getting $5,500, enough money to make him smile, "I was surprised it was that much."

Mike Rothman is with the Department of Commerce, "One in 20 Minnesotans have at least over $100 that's their money."

Over three hours folks got a combined $15,000. Some got a few hundred dollars, others thousands.

Since Big Money Monday began three weeks ago, more than 1,800 Minnesotans have filed claims for more than $100,000.

The funds are from the state's unclaimed property unit. This includes stocks, old paychecks, dormant bank accounts, life insurance policies and safe deposit boxes.
