An Anoka County group was recognized by the governor for protecting the wells and groundwater source of the drinking water supply.

Gov. Mark Dayton honored the Anoka County Municipal Wellhead Protection Group during Safe Drinking Water Week, which was May 5-11. The group is made up of landowners, residents, and governments in Anoka, Blaine, Centerville, Circle Pines, Fridley, Lexington, Lino Lakes, and Spring Lake Park.

According to Anoka County officials, the members work together to implement source-water protection efforts, making sure water is free from contamination.
