A newly formed nonprofit aims to teach young people about Minnesota's rich history in aviation and aerospace.

Airspace Minnesota is a group of pilots and flight enthusiasts who donate their time to relay stories of local pioneers who've left a national mark. The organization also celebrates historic aircrafts and flights.

Airspace Minnesota holds a mentorship program along with a series of events. The goal is to inspire young people to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace, as well as to learn more about science, engineering and math.

Several events this weekend will allow the public to learn about Airspace Minnesota, and to honor pioneer balloonist Don Piccard of Minneapolis
