Same sex couples in Minnesota will begin applying for marriage licenses next week.
This comes after Governor Dayton signed a bill May 14 allowing gay couples to marry.
Hennepin County service centers will start accepting licenses on June 6.
The Hennepin County District Attorney decided it is legal to begin accepting marriage licenses early, so marriages can begin on Aug. 1.
Couples will fill out an application online or in person, visit a service center and pay a filing fee.
When they receive a marriage license it will say it's valid starting Aug. 1.
