The week that is for Red Wing high school senior outfielder Ryan Boldt: graduation rehearsal Thursday, the major league baseball draft Thursday, graduation Friday, and a graduation party on Saturday.
As for the draft, Boldt is expected to go in the top-50 picks, maybe even to the Twins at No. 43 (second round). Boldt's journey to this point is an amazing story.
He once threw right-handed, but hurt his elbow five years ago. He then taught himself to throw left-handed, and still does to this day. One scout compares him to former Twin Denard Span. He's got speed, some power, and is solid defensively.
Boldt had to undergo knee surgery in May after getting hurt in Red Wing's season opener. It just adds to the lengthy list of adversity he's had to overcome.
