Fourth graders from St. Louis Park were fossil-hunting at Lilydale National Park when the hillside gave way. Mohamed Fofana and Haysem Sani were killed, and two other students were injured.
One of the callers said, “We heard a loud noise. I was at the top of the hill but I’m afraid that if something came down…the noise of the cliff…I can’t, I can’t even tell you what I’m thinking is happening.”
The city closed the fossil area of Lilydale Park until further notice.
