A South St. Paul police officer accused of driving while impaired has been charged.
Thirty-six-year-old Cory Slifko was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Rosemount.
Witnesses reported that a motorist, later identified as Slifko, was driving erratically northbound on Highway 3 from Farmington into Rosemount, according to police. Slifko's vehicle reportedly hit mailboxes, property and drove another motorist off the road.
The Dakota County Attorney's Office says Slifko is charged with fleeing an officer, two counts of fourth-degree driving while impaired and criminal damage to property.
Slifko has been an officer with South St. Paul for 13 years and was recently promoted to sergeant. He's on paid leave pending further investigation.
