This past weekend I attended the first ever Lakes Jam at Brainerd International Race Way in Brainerd.

Lakes Jam is a two day music festival that featured many great bands.  It was put on by Jerry and Anna Braam along with Huff Entertainment.

This was Jerry and Anna’s first time doing a music festival and I thought that it went very well.  There were a ton of people that attended and everything seemed to flow very smoothly.  The parking was very organized, so it was easy to get in and out of the event.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating and made being at Lakes Jam very enjoyable.

People attending the event could also camp right on the location so that was nice as well.

You could buy one day, two day or VIP tickets for Lakes Jam.  The VIP tickets included food, special seating, discounted drinks, private bathrooms, and a special collector’s mug.  In my opinion this is the way to go to Lakes Jam.

Lakes Jam had a great line-up of artists.  On Friday night, Gwen Sebastian, Rocket Club, and The Kentucky Headhunters played.

I attended Lakes Jam on Saturday.  The line-up included Sena Ehrhardt, ThundHerStruck, Great White, Night Ranger, and REO Speedwagon.

The bands sounded great and the main stage looked amazing.

Sena Ehrhardt was the first artist to play at Lakes Jam on Saturday and she was great.  Sena is from Rochester, MN and it is a very talented musician.

The next band to take the stage was ThundHerStruck.  ThundHerStruck is an all-female AC/DC tribute band.  They sounded amazing and played all of the classic AC/DC songs.  The lead singer sounded exactly like Bon Scott and Brian Johnson.  If you closed your eyes, you would swear AC/DC was playing on the stage.

One of my favorite bands is Great White and they put on an amazing show.  They were full of energy and were having a great time playing and interacting with the crowd.  They played all of their hits such as “Rock Me,” “Mr. Bone,” and ended the show with “Once Bitten Twice Shy.”  Great White also played some of their new songs off their latest album, “Elation.”  I just think Great White is a great band and I will see them every time they come to Minnesota, because I know it will always be an outstanding show.

This was the first time I had seen Night Ranger in concert and I really enjoyed their show a lot.  They played a great mix of songs and a bunch of surprise songs.  Some of the members of Night Ranger were in different bands like Damn Yankes, so they played songs by the Damn Yankes and even an Ozzy Osborne.  They finished their set by playing their hit song “Sister Christian.”  The whole time the crowd was on their feet and singing along to every song.  That was fun to see.

REO Speedwagon was the headliner and they rocked the place.  They played for almost two hours and gave the fans a very energetic and entertaining show.  Kevin Cronin who is the lead singer told stories about the songs and that made their show very interesting.

I really had a great time at Lakes Jam.  The music was great, the staff was very friendly and accommodating and the vendors had tons of great food and drinks.  I think that Jerry and Anna Braam have something really great up in Brainerd at Brainerd International Raceway.  I am looking forward to attending next year’s Lakes Jam.
