A woman in Missouri claims she was discriminated against at a water park because of her age and full figure.
Forty-two-year-old Madelyn Sheaffer says she was wearing a string bikini at Adventure Oasis when two staff members approached her and told her to put shorts on over her bathing suit. She refused, saying she was wearing the same kind of bathing suit as younger girls at the water park.
A male supervisor at the park told her to cover up or leave.
“He said, ‘This is a family park; it is inappropriate attire and not only do I want you to put on shorts, but you can put on a shirt too because your top is too small as well,’” Sheaffer said.
The city of Independence, Mo., which owns the water park, told local media that the facility “made the call and we rely on their judgment.”
