Pope Francis' comments on gays triggered a variety of reactions around the world, and around the Twin Cities Monday.
When asked about gay priests during a news conference, the pontiff replied "Who am I to judge?" Many are speculating this might signal a shift in the social and political agenda of the church.
"So many people have not felt loved and wanted by the church. That comment was very healing and very good to hear," said Mary Kay Knapp of Edina.
"I think he is a breath of fresh air for the church," said Dan O'Neil of Plymouth.
The pope might usher in a change, but not a revolution.
After all, he just co-authored a document with his much more conservative predecessor Pope Benedict, restating the Catholic Church's opposition to same-sex marriage.
