In a time when schools are fighting for every dollar they get, a central Minnesota school is raising money in its own unique way.
This is the second annual weightlifting competition at Rocori High School.
140 athletes from in and around St. Cloud came to compete.
They pay to participate, money which then goes right back to the student athletes.
"When you look at a weight room, strength program, they don't generate any revenue because fans don't come to watch, we don't have games... so for us to generate money it's very difficult, so this is a great way for us to pick up that slack and put the money back into our athletes," Rocori Strength Coach Jake Zauhar says.
Zauhar says it also builds good relations among athletes who will see each other in competition throughout the year.
