The sounds of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community will fill the Rotunda at the Mall of America on Thursday, Aug. 15.

With two performances at 2 and 5 p.m., Northern and Southern drum groups will accompany dancers in traditional song and dance styles. A master of ceremonies will explain the traditions to the crowd.

Each performance will begin with Sisseton-Wahpeton Vietnam veterans carrying flags and eagle feather staffs. At 3:30 p.m. an honorary veteran program will feature the importance of military service. All veterans are invited to participate.

There also will be a traditional Dakota tipi on display in the Sears court for guests to visit.
