Motorists should plan ahead this weekend when traveling in the Twin Cities area.
Several highways and interstates are under construction in the metro, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The agency is warning motorists to drive cautiously through work zones, to move over a lane if possible and to reduce speed for stopped emergency and maintenance vehicles.
This weekend's projects include:
Both directions between West Main Street, Greenhaven Road and Seventh Avenue will be reduced to a single lane until Aug. 30.
Closed northbound between the I-35/35W/35E split and Highway 13 in Burnsville beginning Friday, Aug. 16, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19. The ramps to and from northbound I-35W at County Road 42, Burnsville Parkway and Hwy 13 also will be closed at this time.
Single-lane southbound between the split in Burnsville and County Road 50 from Friday, Aug. 16, through 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19. County Road 46 ramps to and from southbound I-35 will also be closed at this time.
Closed both directions between Highway 61 and White Bear Avenue until Aug. 31. Highway 36 between Highway 61 and Edgerton Street is reduced to a single lane through Sept. 28. Highway 61 northbound is reduced to a single lane from Roselawn Avenue to Highway 36 until Aug. 30.

Vehicle length restrictions remain in effect, no vehicles longer than 35 feet allowed
Closed both directions between County Road 12 and Highway 16 for 50 days as crews complete pavement resurfacing and culvert construction.
Single-lane both directions between County Road 21 in Shakopee and Pioneer Trail in Bloomington. Ramps to and from northbound Highway 169 will be closed at County Road 21, Highway 101, Old Shakopee Road and Pioneer Trail.
Highway 169 will be closed southbound between Highway 55 in Golden Valley and 77th Avenue in Brooklyn Park from Friday, Aug. 16, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19.
Single-lane eastbound between Highway 100 in Brooklyn Center and Long Lake Road in New Brighton between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., westbound single-lane from Highway 65 in Highway 100 between 7 p.m. and 6 p.m.
