Minneapolis Public School District officials met with parents at Washburn High School Thursday night, answering questions about why the new principal is no longer in the front office.
Patrick Exner is on administrative leave. He was put on leave Aug. 6, and his first day on the job was Aug. 4. His removal comes after allegations of testing problems at his prior school surfaced.
District officials say they conducted thorough interviews, reference and background checks. Stan Alleyne of Minneapolis Public Schools said, "We are frustrated and we acknowledge that some mistakes were made."
District officials say one of Washburn High School's assistant principals will be the interim principal.
Meanwhile, Alleyne says the district is searching for a new principal, which is expected to take several months.
