The city of Minneapolis will not move forward with plans to take over city utilities.
The city council voted Thursday morning not to put the issue on the November ballot. It had considered taking over Xcel Energy’s electrical system but said Xcel has committed to working with the city to improve energy efficiency.
Opponents to the proposal said the move would have cost the city billions of dollars.
