You can soon carry a small piece of the Metrodome on your hiking trips.
Duluth Pack is creating a unique line of duffel and handbags using a portion of the roof from the Metrodome in Minneapolis - renamed the Mall of America Field. Part of the roof collapsed under heavy snow in 2010.
The roof actually had two layers, and Duluth Pack says, the inner layer is perfect for making bags. “The inner layer is very flexible and extremely durable making it an excellent fabric for use in bag manufacturing,” said Dave Merrill, Duluth Pack’s production manager, in a statement.
“Our production team has put this material through extensive testing and we are honored to use it in this limited edition line of bags” said Tom Sega, President of Duluth Pack, in the statement.
The bags will make their debut at the Minnesota State Fair in the Dairy Building. The “Domer" shell bag will sell for $160. The "Domer" medium backpack will sell for $485.
