The "suspicious death" of a man found outside of a building in Shoreview has now been ruled a homicide, according to authorities.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office reported the victim died of a gunshot wound that was not self-inflicted.
Deputies responded to a call Thursday morning, Aug. 29, after a black man, in his late 20s to late 30s, was found dead outside a building in the 5700 block of Hamline Avenue North. The man had no identification.
Authorities believe there is no threat to the community and that it’s an isolated incident.
"We are in the information gathering stage at this time," Sheriff Matt Bostrom said in a statement. "If anyone saw something suspicious, such as a vehicle or activity in the area last night or early this morning, I encourage them to call 651-767-0640 and share what you know to assist our investigation."
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating.
