A Pine City man is accused of impregnating a 12-year-old girl.

Thirty-five-year-old Michael Christian was arraigned Friday in Chisago County District Court for two felony counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree penetration or contact with a person under 13-years-old, according to the Pine County Attorney’s Office.

Investigators determined the girl got pregnant and initially claimed the father was another teenager that moved to the area. A witness said they saw the girl with a partially-clothed adult boyfriend of the girl’s mother in bed together in November of 2012.

The girl gave birth in August of 2013, according to the county attorney’s office.

After DNA samples were obtained from Christian, a BCA report showed he could not be excluded as the father of the baby, according to the County Attorney’s Office.

Christian was arrested and booked into the Pine county Jail on Sept. 4, 2013.

According to the Pine County Attorney’s Office, Christian was convicted in 1997 of Criminal Conduct in the First Degree.

Christian remains in the Pine County Jail.
