Authorities say a 12-year-old Minneapolis boy was killed in an ATV accident in western Wisconsin.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was called around 12:30 p.m. Sunday on a report of an accident on the 500 block of Round Lake Lane in the town of Alden, Wis.
According to the sheriff’s office, Alexander Palen, of Minneapolis, was driving a Polaris 850 on a driveway and was trying to turn back when one side of the ATV went off the edge of the driveway and caused the ATV to fall over a steep embankment. The ATV then rolled over on top of him.
Alexander was transported to Osceola Medical Center by ambulance and then airlifted to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officials say the boy was wearing a helmet and that speed or recklessness don’t seem to be reasons for the accident.
