A victim in the multimillion-dollar Wilf order in New Jersey has deep ties to the Wilf family.
Josef Halpern, one of the business partners a judge says the Wilf family cheated, has a long history with the Wilfs that dates back to Halpern's childhood in Israel. That's where Halpern's attorney says Harry Wilf, Zygi Wilf's uncle, would visit and bring Halpern toys.
Halpern's attorney says Harry Wilf and Halpern made a handshake agreement for an apartment complex in New Jersey that ultimately landed the Wilfs in a New Jersey court. Once Harry Wilf died, Halpern claims Zygi began taking millions of dollars the judge said belonged to Halpern.
The judge ordered them to pay more than $84 million dollars to Halpern and another business partner. Halpern will get $32 million.
The Wilfs' attorney says they plan to appeal.
