Eden Prairie police are ruling the deaths of a man and woman found inside an apartment last weekend a murder-suicide.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired around 7 a.m. Saturday inside an apartment, in a building located in the 8600 block of Magnolia Trail.

According to police, 26-year-old Anitra Williams was shot by her husband, 29-year-old Derrick Williams, who then took his own life.

Police say the shooting was a result of a domestic dispute. Police records show one other report of a verbal domestic dispute between the two in October 2009.

The Eden Prairie police SWAT team and officers from five other nearby suburban departments surrounded the building last weekend. Roughly 63 other units were then evacuated as a precaution.

Police initially found Anitra Williams dead inside the apartment. As a precaution a Bloomington bomb squad robot was sent further into the apartment. The body of Derrick Williams was then discovered along with weapons.

The investigation into their deaths continues. No further details were released.
