A woman was hospitalized overnight after a shooting in Columbia Heights.

Police were called to the Holiday Gas Station at 42nd Avenue Northeast and Central Avenue Northeast around 2 a.m. Monday. The 44-year-old victim had gunshot wounds to her leg and bullet marks on her car.

The woman told police she and her acquaintance, a 42-year-old man from New Brighton, were parked on the 1300 block of Circle Terrace Boulevard in Columbia Heights when two men walked up to them and began shooting into their car.

Police say the woman was shot twice and was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects ran away, but a white sedan was seen speeding away shortly after the shooting, according to police.

One suspect was described as a Hispanic man wearing dark clothing. He was about 5-feet 9-inches tall and had an average build. The second suspect was a black man wearing dark clothing. No other descriptions were given.

The Columbia Heights Police Department and Anoka County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 763-323-5000.
