A former teacher at a boarding school in southern Minnesota has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for sexually abusing six male students more than a decade ago.

Lynn Seibel pleaded guilty to seven counts in July, more than a year after police began investigating alleged sexual contact with students at Shattuck-St. Mary's school in Faribault.

Seibel was sentenced to four years and four months in prison. As part of his sentencing, Seibel will receive 243 days credit for time served. He also could serve a third of his sentence on supervised release, resulting in his total prison time served about three years.
At his plea hearing, the 71-year-old acknowledged he encouraged a "naked dance party" in which boys danced in the shower. He also apologized.
Seibel taught drama at Shattuck-St. Mary's from 1992 to 2003 and lived in one of the dormitories. He left in 2003 after child pornography was found on his computer. He was working as an actor in California before his arrest last year.

Rice County District Judge Christine Anne Long sentenced Seibel.

Seibel said in court that he was deeply, deeply, profoundly sorry for his actions.

A letter from an anonymous victim was read before the sentencing. The victim said that he's scarred forever for the abuse Seibel inflicted on him. The judge told Seibel that he exploited his victims.

Seibel will have to register as a sex offender, attend sex offender treatment and possibly pay restitution.

Prosecutors were seeking four years and four months in prison, followed by probation, at Friday's sentencing.
