Lake Elmo Park Reserve will be closed to the general public during a controlled deer hunt this November.
The park will be closed Nov. 9-10 and Nov. 16-17. Only people who have a special lottery permit from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be allowed inside.
Wildlife managers say there are more than 150 deer in the Lake Elmo Park Reserve and Sunfish Lake Park, which has caused damage to trees and shrubs and is a risk for drivers on nearby highways.
The DNR is recommending a deer herd size of 45-74 for the park area.
Other parks in Washington County will be open during the hunt. For more information about deer management in the park, call 651-430-8370.
